Heavenbreaker

The duke of the powerful House Hauteclare is the first to die, killed with the narrator’s dagger in his back. The narrator is a bastard daughter who was supposed to die with her mother on the duke’s order, and she now carries icy-white rage and a need to make House Hauteclare pay for leaving her and the Station’s starving commoners to suffer. To seek vengeance she rides Heavenbreaker, one of the enormous machines left over from the War, jousting against the system’s fiercest nobles so each win means another enemy dies. She struggles as the machine seems to contain something horrifying and more, and she finds herself dangerously drawn to someone she cares about while hunting revenge.
