Children of Time

Adrian Tchaikovsky's novel Children of Time follows the last remnants of the human race as they leave a dying Earth to find a new home among the stars. Desperate for survival, these human survivors discover a world that was terraformed and prepared for human life, a seeming refuge fashioned by an earlier age. In the long years since the planet was abandoned, its architects' work has produced disastrous consequences. The planet is not pristine or unoccupied; new masters now rule the world and have turned it into mankind's worst nightmare. Two civilizations head toward collision as both test the limits of what they will do to survive, and the fate of humanity hangs in the balance.
