Educated

Tara Westover was born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho and was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family’s isolation meant there was no one to ensure the children received formal schooling and no outside intervention when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother gained admission to college, Tara decided to pursue a different life. Her quest for knowledge carried her across continents to Harvard and Cambridge University, and she finds herself confronting how far education can take her and whether there remains a way home.
