A Novel from the World of Central Station
Sentient machines roam city and desert Orphan joins caravan for off-world journey Rekindled lovers confront past memories A robot searches for lost love Terrorartist disrupts the fragile peace

Neom is set in a far-future city and its surrounding Saudi desert where sentient machines roam and human life adapts to a strange, aged megacity. In the desert, orphan Elias joins a caravan hoping to earn passage off-world while a wry, unnamed robot uncovers the vestiges of a golden man amid unexplained and unexploded mechanical artefacts.

In the city, Nasir, a loyal shurta officer, and Mariam, a hardworking flower seller, see childhood affection rekindled as Nasu, a deadly terrorartist with missing memories, arrives with unfinished business. A single robot in search of lost love can alter Neom's destiny with a single rose.

In far-future Neom, sentient machines, a wry robot, and human residents collide as an orphan Elias and rekindled lovers face revolution and mysteries.

Reader guide

What to Know Before Reading Neom

The description focuses on people and technology coexisting in an aged futuristic city and its desert outskirts. Much of the setup centers on an orphan seeking passage off-world, a robot uncovering an old mystery, and a rekindled affection between Nasir and Mariam amid rising unrest. The presence of sentient machines, deadly works of art, and a figure described as a terrorartist suggests speculative and dangerous elements tied to social conflict. This may appeal more to someone interested in character interactions set against a vividly imagined technological landscape.
